Russell Sage-Joseph House Holiday Celebration Many Russell Sage College students majoring in nutrition science at Russell Sage are members of a student nutrition club. Terry Fernet, '97, President of the Club hosted a holiday dinner at the French House Dining Room on campus for volunteers of the Joseph House. The dinner was a feast of Italian-style foods prepared by the students. Donations were courtesy of the following businesses: Carioto Produce, Colonie Center, the Marriott, The Castaways, The Italia, The Outback, Fridays, Salty's Pub, Latham Circle Mall, Higher Ground, Common Ground, Brueggers, Salad Works, Amway, The Vanilla Bean, and the Russell Sage Bookstore. The best part of the event was the cooperation the students felt from Troy-city and Capital District businesses. Christina Hom, the student who organized the collection of gifts was impressed with the generosity and willingness of the local merchants to help. The nutrition club is planning several meetings this semester. The Troy community is invited to the Russell Sage college nutrition department's celebration of National Nutrition Month. There will be a lecture opened to the community on Wednesday, March 19 at 7-9pm in the Howard Bush Memorial Hall on the corner of Congress and First Streets. The speaker will be Dr. Margo Wootan, from the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI). She will discuss Food for Thought and Economic Influences on Eating. Contact Rita Duncan 270-2396 for details. In cooperation with Troy United Ink Corp., a not-for-profit corporation |
