Friends of Prospect Park The Spring Clean-up is planned for the weekend of May 3rd and 4th. We hope the turn out will be as large and enthusiastic as we had in the fall. Peter Grimm, VP of "Friends" and Tom Wade, from Gardenway, are coordinating the clean-up. Please meet at the park comfort station with gloves, a rake and your own refreshments. Clean-up begins at 9:00am. If you or your group cannot make this scheduled time please call Peter for assitance at 273-1500. Our focus this year is to keep the Park clean and to have some recreation and comfort stations facilities refurbished. Ted Keefe, Superintendent, Parks & Recreation, will have a horseshoe pit, two shuffle boards, a beech volley ball area and a bocce court installed. The tennis nets are up and the tennis courts will be in full repair soon. Distance markings for joggers and walkers have been painted on the road. Troy Tennis Association will hold two open sanctioned Tennis Tournaments in June and July. Call Tom Rogan, Tounament Director at 273-7903 for info. We are looking for service organizations who are interested in operating a small concession in the Park from June through August. Profits from this will go to that organization. Interested parties, please call Hannelore at 273-4984. Friends of Prospect Park are incorporating as a not-for-profit organization. Members and Officers of the Board are: Hannelore Wilfert, Pres., Peter Grimm, VP, Paul Macari, Treasurer, MaryLou Beauchea, Secretary, David Chinery, Rosemary Oathout, Nina Pattison and Tom Rogan. This is an organization that is open to the public and we invite all "friends" to attend our meetings.
