Troy's Community Newsletter

And what a FRIENDraiser it was!!

by Janette Kaddo Marino, President TUI

What a wonderful success! Yes we did reach our financial goal, but more importantly we succeeded in uniting many community representatives under one roof for an evening of socializing and community building. When we first thought of having a fund-raiser, we discussed how fun it would be to gather our subscribers, who are a wonderfully wide representation of the community, together for a party. This diverse mix of people interested in building a strong community and who know that Troy is a wonderful place, met, mingled and thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful evening together.

Below is a list of the organizations and various walks of life that were represented in some form at the FRIENDraiser. The following should be commended for their commitment to community and the rest of you out there are invited to climb aboard, the fun has only just begun!! At the end of this list a letter written by Nina Pattison and a note by Pat Dumas just days after they attended the FRIENDraiser captures nicely that nights event.

The following letter & note were received just days after our FRIENDrasier. We print them for your enjoyment, a different perspective and because they reflect how we felt about it's success.

Dear TUI,

What a grand party that was yesterday evening! The setting, the decor, the food, music, the TURN-OUT, including many people I've never seen before - an indication of spreading the good news beyond the usual same-old, same-old crowd. And even mother nature cooperated by her contribution of a crystal clear night giving us a stunning view. The view down the length of that room and out to our city was just breath-taking! It validated everything I know to be wonderful about Troy. The cold was just another conversation point and not disturbing.

You are to be highly commended - you and your committee did a bang-up job! I hope you made a lot of money!

Now, I suppose you are thinking about how to enlarge and improve upon the paper to more accurately fulfill your vision and commitment.

Good luck! If I can be useful as a sounding board or listening ear, (or in any other way) I am always here for you to toss ideas at and would consider myself honored to be so used.

You have done an impressive thing in the face of many odds.

Fondly,

Nina Pattison

Dear TUI,

You certainly are to be congratulated for the happy net-working success of the FRIENDraiser! I thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie, the setting, and the entire positive aspect of the evening. It is good to be associated with TUI!

Best Wishes.

Pat Dumas
