There is so much to do in Prospect Park

  • Picnic under the tall trees: At the summit of the park is a large picnic area with tables and grilling stations. There is also ample room to spread out a blanket for a picnic.
  • Play in the newly installed playgrounds adjacent to the picnic area. Children will also enjoy the sprinkler pools near the playground.
  • Have a reunion or group picnic in the pavilion equipped with tables and its own parking lot, open only when reserved; Call 235-7761 to reserve.
  • Play volleyball on the grass area(with a permanent volleyball net) adjacent to the group picnic area,
  • Play tennis on one of the 13 tennis courts. There are also 4 practice areas: half courts with practice walls.
  • Play basketball on one of the two courts. There are bleachers on the side of the courts,
  • Walk or jog the one-mile marked road.
  • Collect colorful leaves when they fall from the more than 30 different species of trees.

The Friends of Prospect Park is a not-for-profit group of interested citizens whose projects include:

  • having trees in the park labeled
  • organizing botanical and environmental guided walks.
  • developing a trail system from Prospect Park through the Poestenkill Gorge.
