Wanted: Solutions for America

Carole J. Hamner

The Pew Partnership is inviting communities and organizations to apply for participation in Wanted: Solutions for America, a national initiative to document and disseminate what is working to strengthen communities. Over the next two years, the Pew Partnership will select 50 "21st-Century Solution Communities" to demonstrate how communities are meeting America's toughest challenges. Governmental, private and nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply.

Wanted will recognize communities that have achieved impressive results ù keeping kids in school, creating jobs, reducing crime ù by fostering unique partnerships among organizations and individuals. To learn how your community or organization can apply for participation in Wanted: Solutions for America, check out our website, www.pew-partnership.org/wanted.

In brief, communities selected to participate in Wanted will derive three primary benefits:

  • Access to a team of prominent researchers who will work with them to document the success of their efforts.
  • Participation in national conferences and networks bringing together the best of theory and practice in community building.
  • Increased visibility as a nationally designated "21st-Century Solution" City.

We are seeking participation from communities of all sizes. The Pew Partnership, headquarters in Charlottesville, VA., is a research organization established six years ago to assist communities design, implement, and evaluate solutions to the nation's most intractable problems. The Pew Partnership is a special initiative of the Philadelphia-based philanthropy, The Pew Charitable Trusts.
