Library Adds Hours of Service Troy Public Library Paul Hicok 274-7071 The Troy Public Library Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the addition of five hours to the schedule at the Main Library. The new schedule, which will go into effect on Monday, February 15, will permit the Main Library to stay open 55 hours per week as recommended by the State Education Department for communities with populations over 25,000. "This is kind of a milestone for us," said library director Paul Hicok. "The library had to drastically reduce hours of service back in 1994 at the Main library and both branches when the City of Troy was in the midst of a fiscal crisis. Last year, thanks to additional support from the city council we were able to add hours to both the Lansingburgh and Sycaway Branches. This year with added support in Mayor Pattison's recommended budget and additional support from City Council we are able to increase services at the Main Library and bring the Troy Public Library back in compliance with State recommendations and guidelines. To borrow a phrase, the Troy Public Library too, is "back on track." The new schedule at the Main Library will be:
Monday and Tuesday 9am - 9pm
In cooperation with Troy United Ink Corp., a not-for-profit corporation |
