EARTH DAY 99

On April 18th you are invited to join with many community groups, residents & businesses as we celebrate EARTHDAY with projects to clean up and beautify Troys parks, entryways, creeks, ponds, and riverfront areas. Many groups have already responded to the effort. Representatives from "Friends of Prospect Park, Troy Beautification Council for Menands Bridge Mt. Ida Preservation Group, Neighborhood Watch Group for Canal Ave. Neighborhood Park, Christine O'Connell Burden Pond Crew, Poestenkill Gorge Park have all stepped up voluntarily in an effort to help beautify our city. Representatives from 112th Street Playground, Downtown Businesses, Friends of 112th Street, and other groups and locations are being contacted or asked to step forward and join in as a community who cares about the place we call home!! Please consider joining anyone of the above listed groups or pick you own part of Troy you want to see improved on Saturday, April 18th Then on Sunday April 19th there will be Celebrate Earthday at Riverfront Park as groups gather to hear some bands and compare calluses from the day before efforts!! Our local newspaper The Record, Mayor Mark Pattison and the City Workforce along with the community are teaming up in this effort.
