The 2nd Annual Great Scenic Hudson River Sweep May 7-16 Last May, Scenic Hudson sponsored the first Great Scenic Hudson River sweep to focus community attention on the river. Volunteers from CAN, Citizens for Riverfront Action, RIC and throughout the region came to spend a day on the river in the City of Rensselaer. With the help of the city, and 17 local businesses and community organizations including Amtrak, the first River Sweep succeeded in removing 13 tons of garbage and recycled metal from the shore area. This year, that area is again targeted as well as others. River loving volunteers are warmly invited to help in the Rensselaer Sweep, Sat. May 15.
