VOX / IN CAMERA - Classical Music Newsletter

Peter Coddington Gerdine, Editor
www.VoxInCamera.com

Published every other month since 1995, VOX / IN CAMERA is about to go online and discontinue printed publication.

VOX covers classical music events (concerts mostly), including opera, vocal and choral, especially chamber, small orchestra (e.g Troy Savings Bank Music Hall events) but not ballet or the big stuff, such as Albany Symphony, BSO at Tanglewood, or Philadelphia Orchestra at SPAC). The focus is on eastern NY, western MA, VT, and CT, or within about a 90-minute's drive of Albany.

VOX is now updated every month, currently receiving data for the summer months and the fall season. Complete program information is provided where available, as well as the usual: date, time, place, ticket info., telephone no's., etc.

Mr. Coddington also writes short reviews and previews, as well as articles of interest to area concert-goers, e.g. David Janower's Albany Pro Musica and Ann-Marie Barker Schwartz, co-founder of the much lamented, now defunct St. Cecilia Orchestra. Guest articles have treated such subjects as area classical music radio (WMHT and WAMC) and concert programming at SPAC, also area choral conductors (David Janower, Ben Van Wie, Myron Hermance). Also included is a piece about concert-goers, with Audrey and Bob Scher of Clifton Park.

Note: The name of the publication is in Latin, appropriate for a high tone, upscale, elitist venture "VOX" means voice (choral, opera, vocal), "IN CAMERA" means in chamber or an intimate setting (chamber music).
