Habitat for Humanity of Rensselaer County
Habitat for Humanity of Rensselaer county builds simple, decent,
affordable housing for low-income Rensselaer county families.
We'll be building in downtown Troy in the fall, and we invite you
to join us as a construction volunteer. Skilled volunteers are
especially needed, although we welcome every willing helper. We'll
work every Saturday and Sunday from 8am - 4pm for about 6 months.
Construction volunteers should have their own tools and can
volunteer by calling 283-6026. In the meantime, we need help
behind-the-scenes in these areas:
-
Building Committee:
- We need talented construction volunteers to
lead our weekend work crews. We need folks who have construction
experience and who are willing to teach small groups specific
skills for 8 weekend hours. This is a crucial job. For more info,
call Jerry Oathout at 271-8415.
-
Fund Raising
- Help us raise money to continue our projects. Call
Dave Blackman at 279-1548 to find out he you can get involved.
-
Family Selection
- Work as part of a team to screen potential
families for eligibility. Call Cindy Pohlmann at 271-7992 to learn
more about this important task.
-
Family Partering
- On this committee you'll be matched with a
prospective family to help them transition into the role of
home owner. Jim Goold can give you more details. You can reach him
at 674-2352.
-
Hospitality/Lunch Volunteers
- When we build, we provide our weekend
volunteer crews with lunch to thank them for a job well done. If
you'd like to donate lunch for 15-20 people beginning in the fall,
please let us know by calling Tracey Martin at 273-1102.
