Troy Board of Ed. Elects New President Newly elected Board of Education President Dorothy Green Daniels plans to continue her role as an advocate for students and families. Since joining the Board in July 1996, Daniels has focused her efforts on working toward the betterment of all children, particularly in the areas of early education, meeting and mastering the New York State standards, and family and community involvement She noted that the district has implemented a full-day Kindergarden program and offers numerous enrichment and related programs at all grade levels. "Our district gives students and staff access to the latest in education and technology," Daniels said. She also noted the continued work by the district to maintain a safe environment for students and staff and to improve its physical plant. "All of this was accomplished with a zero increase in school taxe." Daniels, who earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Siena College in 1997, takes advantage of every opportunity to talk to district residents about Troy schools. "I think it's really important that members of our school-community remain involved in the educational process of our students." Daniels says she is optimistic about the upcoming school year. "I look forward to working as part of the team with my fellow Board members, Superintendent Armand Reo, teachers, parents and the school community as a whole." Daniels is also proud to be a part of the Troy School District 150th Anniversary Year Celebration. "Our schools have done an excellent job of offering quality education over the past century and a half," said Daniels. "This celebration is historic in that it at allows us to reflect on our past and focus on our future," The Board of Education also welcomed three new members- Justine Dalton, Patricia 0'Grady, and Clement Zotto.
