CDTA Service Improvement Package

What

Improvements to over 20 bus routes. The changes come about after a study of our core routes and the award of federal and state grants to add service to help people access job opportunities. The routes slated for improvements serve about 75% of our customers.

When

Why and How

To make service more convenient for customers. This will be done by improving frequencies, providing better transfer connections and widening service spans, especially in late evening. We will also expand our popular Shuttle services, which serve people traveling to suburban work sites.

Route 1 - Central Avenue and Route 55 Albany-Schenectady

Route 2 - West Albany

Route 6 - Second Avenue

Route 8 - Arbor Hill

Route 10 - Western Avenue and Route 12 Washington Avenue

Route 14 - Rensselaer East Street

Route 17 - Four Mall and 90 Troy-Schenectady

Route 70 - Troy-Schenectady

Route 58 - Union Street

Route 21x - Altamont Express

Route 22 - Albany-Troy via Watervliet

Route 29 - Albany-Cohoes via Latham

Route 51 - Broadway

Route 80 - Albia-Fifth Avenue

Route 82 - Troy-Cohoes

Route 85 - Waterford-Troy

Schenectady Night Service

• Introduce two new evening routes. Service will be provided to neighborhoods on the north side of Schenectady, and on the south side of the city, including Rotterdam Square Mall.
• Both routes will operate from 7pm until 11pm with transfer connections to Route 55 service. Exact routing and schedule times have not been determined at this writing.

ShuttleBee

• Extend weekday evening service to 11:30pm (now ends at 6:30pm).

ShuttleBug

• Extend weekday evening service to 11:30pm (now ends at 10:15pm).
• Introduce Saturday service. Service will operate from 6am until 11:30pm.
• Expand service area to include Crossgates Commons and the Twenty Mall.
• Charge a 25 cent fare (like ShuttleBee and ShuttleFly). For the most part, people who use shuttles transfer (free) from regular route buses or use a Swiper card.

ShuttleFly

• Extend weekday and Saturday evening service to 11:30pm (now ends at 7:30pm).
• Introduce Sunday service. Service will operate from 9am until 6pm.
